I am the Area Manager for the Overdale infants and Juniors school and have been working very closely with the schools to tailor the menu to suit the needs of the pupils, the changes were implemented from feedback from the Schools.
As the new menu highlights as a caterer we now hold the Gold Catering Mark, and we are one of 3 Local Authorities in the County to do so and this is something we are very proud of, we have spent a lot of time with our dietetic team ensuring our menu meets the Food Standards.
I have enclosed the guidelines we follow when designing our menu to fit the Gold catering mark — regarding Organic meat and meat free days.
All of our meat is Farm Assured, and we are working on a provenance sheet that will highlight what is in our recipes and where the meat and ingredients are sourced.
At Overdale the pupils choose their meal in the Classroom this has increased uptake and also reduced waste, this ensures the pupils are receiving their preferred option.
